"Scotland made me what I am and America allowed me to be it."

I don't usually pay any attention to the tag lines/signatures that people post, but I must say the irony of F1 Wild's new quote from Craig Ferguson had me laughing.

For those who don't know, Craig Ferguson is currently the mildly funny, slapstick host of one of America's "late, late" talk shows (for those whose "condition" brings insomnia). He's sort of a jack-of-all-trades, show business writer-comedian-actor who worked in Scotland and London before making his way to the USA as the "English" boss of Drew Carey on American television's Drew Carey Show (payback for all the bad Scots' accents he heard from the English).

The irony, however, stems from Ferguson's long-admitted "alcoholism" (his drunken Scot's heritage) and his developing "sobriety" as a "recovering alcoholic" (as the USA move allowed him to find through friends in the early part of the telephone book).

He's got one of the best late night (or any time, for that matter) chat shows on at the moment. I'm just about to start reading his autobio.
